Autumn Term 2
Lots of lovely Maths happening this week. We also enjoyed painting tiny ladybirds on our fingers to remember l, l, l....ladybird and we welcomed a new baby into class for b, b, b...baby brains!
Another busy week! We had a visit from our PCSO, went on our first Forest School experience, and learnt about Remembrance Day and Children in Need. There has been some wonderful Maths taking place in our continuous provision using natural resources and loose parts. In Phonics, we washed a wolf when we learnt about w, w, Whiffy Wilson. We drove racing cars for v, v ,vroooom and made jelly for j, j, jelly. We were very excited that the author Nick Sharrett retweeted about our phonics fun too!
We have enjoyed phonics this week. We met a y, y, yeti and a ch, ch, chicken and explored a x, x, box of tricks. We completed some writing about the Yeti, and it was amazing. We are using our sounds to spell simple words. We enjoyed painting pictures of the Yeti, played in the small world tray and made igloos. There has been some great Lego building where the children have carefully followed a plan to build, and then used mathematical words to describe the size of their buildings.
This week we have been learning about hedgehogs, snails and nocturnal animals. We have explored making shadows, using torches - this was so much fun and we made many different shapes and animals. We have really enjoyed writing shopping lists, whilst role-playing in our shop, and we have loved playing with the building blocks, outside in the winter sunshine.
Winter has crept into Badbury Park Primary this week. We have been on train rides to learn our new sound ‘ee, ee, what did you see?’ We sold tickets and made real cups of tea. We have enjoyed visits from the 'elf on the shelf' and have started our advent calendar. We made snowmen to help us remember our 2D shapes and enjoyed exploring the winter story trays.
