Spring Term 2
Wow, we had snow and then glorious sun for Forest School. We went on a walk where we spotted signs of spring including buds, flowers, green leaves and blossom. We finished with hot chocolate and free time where we swung in trees and climbed low trees, which developed our risk taking.
We have been designing and building bridges this week after reading the Questionneers book, 'Rosie Revere Engineer'. We used a variety of materials from our classroom including loose parts and junk modelling. We built bridges to cross rivers and made some high enough for the Tricky Troll to live underneath. Just like Rosie, we improved our first attempts and celebrated the 'first flop', as it helped us make the next one better.
This week we had such a special delivery - our 'worry monsters'. We wrote thank you letters to the team at 'Knit for Nowt' thanking them for knitting the monsters for us. We have been investigating materials, to see which are waterproof and how absorbent cotton wool is. We have also been playing in our new role-play area and have created some fantastic pieces of writing.
We loved reading the wordless picture book 'The Journey'. It is all about a little girl who draws with a red crayon and is magically transported. It inspired some wonderful story telling and writing using lots of imagination.
